My arowana's barbel fell off and it's not eating. Will it grow back?

This could be caused an extreme exophthalmus that has rupture both eyes and could be secondary to an infection. Gas bubble disease can lead to eyes rupture as well. Eyes unfortunately do not regenerate but can heal depending on the type of injury (a picture of the lesions would be extremely helpful in your case). Begin by submitting a water sample for quality testing. Most pet stores will do this for free or a nominal fee. Clinical examination should always include a water quality check, even if you have done so already. Water testing should be performed with a quality test kit, measuring NH4, NO2 and NO3. High ammonia levels, PH imbalances may be responsible for these signs. Oxygen concentration and quality of the filters should be determined as well. If water quality is normal, antibiotic treatment is likely to be required. Please discuss these options with your local vet.

Whether her tongue texture will return to normal or not would depend on the cause for the damage in the first place. The little bristles on the tongue should grown back as the body replaces those cells. However, if there is scar tissue from the damage (or even something like cancer of the tongue), they may not grow back. It is quite possible that she isn't grooming like normal because her tongue hurts. You can help her stay clean by brushing her daily. If she won't eat or drink, this could be from pain or other illness and should be addressed with your vet, especially if it goes on longer than 24 hours. This could also be a side effect of the medications she is on.

Platys do best around 78F. Dissolve 1 teaspoon of plain aquarium salt (NOT table salt) per gallon of water in a cup of tank water and gently pour it into the tank. This will reduce stress, treat minor infection and aid in recovery. You can also add StressCoat or StressZyme. Treat with salt for 10-14 days then reassess fin condition. The fin should grow back eventually, then you can return her to the main tank.

A photo of the fish would be helpful if you can get one. It could be infection, injury or parasites. It will not grow back. He should not have any pain unless the nerve is exposed and I cannot tell you if that is the case without examining him. Cats only use the canine teeth for grabbing and fighting, not for eating so he should have no problem at all eating. It was just an accident and it has nothing to do with his teeth not being strong.
