My Yorkie puppy has blue skin on his back. Is this a health concern?

Hello. Dogs skin can certainly be pigmented, & can take on a bluish-grey tint. If Apollo is acting & feeling perfectly normal, I would just point this out to your veterinarian at his next visit & see what he says. But my guess is this is very normal for Apollo. This looks like simple hyperpigmentation but of course I cannot say for sure without an exam. I would watch it closely. If it is changing or bothering her I would have your vet look at it. If you are unsure, you could have your vet take a look at it just to ensure it is nothing to worry about. the darkening of the skin can be just normal age development or secondary to an old infection or inflammation. Hello, frequently, it may be apparent that cants and sometimes dogs may have a pale or even bluish skin. It is not generally associated with any diseases, diet, or hairballs. This may actually be associated with blood supply to and from his skin. After blood is delivered to any organ, it releases oxygen and blood becomes darker in color, a blue color. This may be the reason why Kane's skin appears more blue. Alternatively, his dark coat may also be giving his skin this color appearance. As long as Kane is otherwise doing ok, he likely does not have anything abnormal going on with him. Monitor for any scratching, hair loss, weight loss, dry coat, and if you note any of these, then have him evaluated. Home his helps and best of luck.

Hair coat color change can be due to numerous factors including (but not limited to) genetics, environmental temperature, previous trauma to hair follicles, systemic hormonal disease, etc. If this was sudden that the hair coat changed color, I would recommend having Cookie examined by a veterinarian and have her blood tested just to be on the safe side so that any recommendations for additional diagnostics and treatments can be made. Colours in pictures can be deceiving but shades of mid pink are normal. Hints of white, yellow, blue or brown require urgent treatment by an emergency vet. If you are concerned a full health check and blood tests would be worthwhile to rule out any indication of illness

This is typically a sign of a bleeding disorder. It could be from trauma to a superficial blood vessel. Hello, my name is Dr. Shines and I am happy to help. If Pico isn't itching or licking the area, if the skin's not red or scabby and if the fur looks normal, this is probably normal. As they age, the skin can darken, particularly in the groin and armpits. If Pico seems to be scratching or licking more, or if you sees signs of infection, then make an appointment to have him examined. Allergies can cause the skin to darker as well.
