Why is my Yorkie lethargic, unsteady, and not eating on antibiotics?

Poor Princess does sound like something is off! Lethargy and anorexia are both very general signs of illness, and can be caused by things like systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. I see that she isn't spayed, and a major concern for is pyometra. This is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment. Because I can't see her in person to rule out a pyo, I would take her into a vet now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. This is a quite generic but concerning sign. Differentials are many, from gastrointestinal or urinary tract diseases (infection/inflammations often dietary related) to any disease that can spread systemically (causing lethargy and hyperthermia for example) like infection, and anything that can cause pain/discomfort. The approach must be logic. A check up is needed if lethargy lasts for more than 24hours. Poor Charlie! There are several things that can cause him to be lethargic and not eat like kidney or liver disease, an infection, a tumor/cancer, general GI upset, parasites, and much more. Since he has an extensive medical history and he isn't eating well and lethargic, I would strongly recommend to have your vet take a look at him asap. Your vet will be able to do a fecal, blood work and even x-rays if needed. They will be able to recommend the best treatment plan for him to help him feel better! I hope this helps!

Depending on your location, there may be confirmed cases of Canine Influenza in your area. This is a potential cause for the cough. The flu will typically present similar to as it does in people, with a fever, cough, lethargy, inappetance, and often a nasal discharge. It has the potential to progress to pneumonia. There is no specific treatment for the flu, only supportive care and antibiotics if secondary pneumonia develops. I use the rule if a cough does not improve, or worsens, over the course of 48 hours, and is accompanied by lethargy, decreased appetite, difficulty breathing, and vomiting or diarrhea, then the pet should be seen. With the recent outbreaks of Canine Influenza I would certainly try to have him seen by his veterinarian.

These are certainly scary and concerning symptoms. I'm sure you are very worried about Bella as am I. I would recommend that Bella be seen by a veterinarian right away as the symptoms you report could be signs of something serious like low blood sugar. She is a tiny little dog and a Yorkie as well so there are some breed related issues that can cause similar signs. Seeing a veterinarian right away will help to rule out many things and hopefully get her feeling better as soon as possible. Hello and thank you for your post! Speaking from personal experience, this used to happen to my dog as well. I would give him his capsule and sometimes it would get stuck under his lip and it would partially dissolve releasing the powder in his mouth. He would shake his head and foam at the mouth because of how bitter the powder was. He never got sick because of this and the powder generally will not cause any irritation it is just very bitter and distasteful. I would think that the antibiotic itself would be causing him to feel sick if he managed to swallow some of the antibiotic on an empty stomach. It is also possible that it has nothing to do with the medication that was administered and is completely something else that has led to him feeling sick. Since you have an appointment with your veterinarian, I would wait and see what the physical examination shows and possibly have Joel's blood tested. I hope this helps! Poor Elvis. Lethargy and walking slowly are very non-specific signs so it is hard to say what to look for in particular with no other symptoms to speak of. The knots just above his ball area sounds like his normal anatomy, this is likely his bulbourethral glands. However the lethargy is of some concern, so a proper physical exam by your vet would be the next best step. They will check him from head to toe for any abnormalities, including any abnormal heart rate, breathing rate or temperature (which would indicate infection). Make sure to check the house and yard for any toxins that he may have been exposed to. If testing needs to be ran, then the vet will recommend those to gather more clues as to the underlying cause of his illness. I hope things go well.
