My 6-month-old Yorkie is lethargic and walking weird. What's wrong?

This is a quite generic but concerning sign. Differentials are many, from gastrointestinal or urinary tract diseases (infection/inflammations often dietary related) to any disease that can spread systemically (causing lethargy and hyperthermia for example) like infection, and anything that can cause pain/discomfort. The approach must be logic. A check up is needed if lethargy lasts for more than 24hours. Poor Charlie! There are several things that can cause him to be lethargic and not eat like kidney or liver disease, an infection, a tumor/cancer, general GI upset, parasites, and much more. Since he has an extensive medical history and he isn't eating well and lethargic, I would strongly recommend to have your vet take a look at him asap. Your vet will be able to do a fecal, blood work and even x-rays if needed. They will be able to recommend the best treatment plan for him to help him feel better! I hope this helps!

It is concerning that he's been laying down all day, and this lethargy can be a sign of many illnesses such as a systemic illness, infection, injury, kidney disease, or liver disease to name a few. I can't see from the picture what is going on with his side, so I can't hazard a guess as to what it is. These are certainly scary and concerning symptoms. I'm sure you are very worried about Bella as am I. I would recommend that Bella be seen by a veterinarian right away as the symptoms you report could be signs of something serious like low blood sugar. She is a tiny little dog and a Yorkie as well so there are some breed related issues that can cause similar signs. Seeing a veterinarian right away will help to rule out many things and hopefully get her feeling better as soon as possible. Being uncomfortable and lethargic can be very general signs of illness, and can be caused by systemic illness, pain, injury, cardiac disease, liver disease, inflammation, cancer, or infection. Given Lil Boy's age, it's best that he's seen by a vet as soon as possible as there could be some very serious causes behind these symptoms. I recommend having a physical exam, geriatric blood panel, urinalysis, and x-rays done.

It sounds that she needs to be seen by a vet as soon as possible. Your vet should be able to offer you an appointment as it does sound like an emergency. If you don't have any luck with your day practice you can always contact an emergency service that is local to you (after 6-7pm during the week) and they will see Kayla. It is hard to say what is going on with your dog without seeing her as the symptoms are not specific for one particular condition. Weakness and lethargy could be a sign of pain, fever, nausea, anaemia, kidney problems and many more.

Many many causes are possible including kidney, liver, heart, other internal organ disease, periodontal disease, infection, inflammation, diabetes, low thyroid hormone, prostate problems (since not neutered), problems if one testicle or both testicles have not descended from the abdomen (cryptorchidism), cancer, etc. Your vet can discuss diagnostic tests to figure out what is going on and some treatment in the mean time to sustain him until a diagnosis is made. Possible tests include fecal/blood/urine tests, x-rays or ultrasounds. Early treatment could be fluids, electrolytes, drugs to enhance appetite, force feeding, drugs for nausea, pain, etc. Good luck with Harry. I hope this is something simple and he feels better soon.
