Hi! I recently had a stomach virus myself and it seems that I might've given it to my yorkie. He vomited once but has had mucousy diarrhea for 2-3 days. He's not ate anything unusual and I'm assuming it came from me being sick. Being that he is so little (5lbs) I worry about him not drinking enough water. I'm not sure what to do for him

Hi I am sorry to hear about Kody. I am glad the vomiting and diarrhea have stopped but he may be dehydrated from the fluid losses he had earlier. I would recommend to encourage him to drink lots of water in small amounts if possible. You can also offer him chicken broth. I would feed him bland cooked chicken and rice tonight, small amounts, to help settle his stomach.
Yorkies tend to have sensitive stomachs and also are prone to pancreatitis when they get an upset stomach. This CAN be serious in some dogs.
If Kody is not willing to eat for you and/or his vomiting and diarrhea continue I would recommend an exam by his veterinarian within 24 hours.
I hope he is feeling better soon.
