I generally do not deworm without knowing if they have intestinal parasites and which ones as there are several different deworm medications that are used for different types of parasites. I would recommend looking for a pyrantel pamoate product labeled for use in a 1 month old puppy. This dewormer only treats roundworms and hookworms, so if you are suspicious of other types of parasites, a vet should perform a fecal exam to determine which parasites are present.

Nexgard is the only oral flea and tick preventative approved in the US for 6 months or younger. I would continue the Nemex every 2 weeks until they start heartworm prevention. I hope this helps!

Is Captain Jack Sparrow on heartworm prevention? This is the monthly pill that prevents against heartworm disease. It also prevents against the most common intestinal parasites. If he is on heartworm prevention I would just recommend yearly stool samples to make sure he didn't pick up an intestinal parasite that the heartworm prevention does not cover. If you do not give heartworm prevention then I would recommend yearly stool samples to make sure that Captain Jack Sparrow doesn't have intestinal parasites. You can deworm him with a general dewormer like Pyrantel every 6 months also. Understand Pyrantel doesn't cover every intestinal parasite. Hello. Ideally, you should bring a sample of the stool to your vet for a through analysis. That way, anything unusual can be properly treated. But in the meantime, you can go to any pet retailer & pick up several safe & common dewormers such as Pyrantel pamoate, or Safeguard wormer. You can use the Drontal Plus to deworm him now. It is an excellent deworming tablet and you only have to give him one tablet now. You should given him another deworming tablet in a month, and then he should be dewormed every three months thereafter.
