Is this strange woody plant growth in my garden safe for my dog?

No, that seems very unlikely if not impossible. This type of growth should be ideally checked by your local veterinarian to differentiate between skin cyst, benign or malignant type of tumors. Your vet can perform a fine needle aspirate or a biopsy to assess it. If it is painful it means it may be inflamed but not more than that.

This does not look like a tick - it is more likely to be a skin cyst, a skin growth or papilloma or tumor, or possibly a wound caused by a grass seed / foxtail. Your vet will be able to identify what exactly it is and recommend treatment if indicated.

The most common growth looking like that is a viral pappiloma, it's a tumor caused by a virus, it tends to resolves itself without treatment with time. I would still recommend having it checked by your vet to make sure.

It does appear that he has developed a growth on his back leg, and I do recommend all abnormal growths be evaluated by a veterinarian to determine if they are benign (non-cancerous) or not. While it could be a cyst, insect bite, or wart, there are certain types of skin cancer (such as mast cell tumors) that can look similar to what you are seeing. I would recommend Marvin see his regular veterinarian and have a needle aspirate to help determine what the growth might be, and determine any further treatment that may be needed. Good luck!

It looks like it could be a California Fan Palm. These are the only palm trees native to California. You can contact the local garden center or Extension Office for confirmation. The seeds/fruit are not known to be toxic, but could cause stomach upset if large amounts are ingested.

Hello. It looks like something or someone vomited up a combination of emesis & something very fibrous. It is probably indigestible , hence the reason it was vomited up in the first place. This is quite a strange looking growth. I feel it is likely a papilloma which has become devitilised and died off hence the pale colour. However it is impossible to know the origin of a mass just by visual inspection alone. To be safe I would have this lump removed and submitted for testing at the lab to know exactly what it is.
