New dog owner: Where to get my unvaccinated dog her first shots?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | 3 months and 29 days old | 22 lbs

My dog hasn't undergone any vaccine. Where do I go? We haven't been into any veterinary clinic. Can I get her vaccinated in our town hospital? Pr there is really a need to go to veterinary. Really dont know what to do since its my first time to adopt a dog. Thanks!

Primo will need to go to a veterinary clinic. There, a veterinarian can perform a complete physical exam to confirm good health before vaccination. Core vaccines include distemper/parvo combination and rabies vaccines. She will need 3 combination vaccines spaced 3-4 weeks apart. A rabies vaccine can be given now and repeated next year at this time. She should also be dewormed and tested for heartworm then placed on the appropriate monthly preventatives against fleas, ticks, heartworm and intestinal parasites.
