When can my unvaccinated puppy safely go outside in the garden?

If he's in a carrier and not in contact with other pets with unknown vaccine history, or on strange ground it should be OK. If the garden area is your own private residence area, and no other dogs frequent it, it should be OK to let Django out to potty and play on it.

It would be best to take him out when the full set of vaccines is given, but if it is a small closed garden and he/she is not going to get in touch with other animals, that is generally fine and the risk of possible infection is very low.

I wouldn't take Koda into the backyard just yet because parvo can live in then environment for months. If her shots aren't complete, she still runs the risk of catching it from the environment. I'd take her in the front yard if your previous puppy hadn't gone there, but wait until she is fully vaccinated before taking her into the backyard. Best of luck!

There is a fine line between socialization, house training and exposing the puppy to infectious disease. Most of the worrisome disease are from direct dog to dog contact from sneezing/coughing or fecal-oral. I think your yard is fine. I do not recommend contact with other puppies or dogs are not vaccinated. Keep her up to date on her DHPP by getting it every 3-4 weeks until she receives 2 past 12 weeks of age. Because you will not have a private yard and cannot be sure that your area will be virus free, Niko should stay confined from public areas until at least two weeks after his final shots at 16 weeks of age. Parvovirus can live in the environment outside for up to a year, so it's extremely important to make sure he has no contact with that, or any other potential life threatening viruses. You can train Niko to use pee pads instead until he is fully vaccinated, and then work on house training him.

That sound be fine as long as no other dogs, coyotes or foxes have been in the yard. In general, a dog free, isolated back yard is fairly safe. The main concern is generally parvo which can survive in the soil for up to a year. Please feel free to post any additional questions.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Bella. She can certainly go outdoors in your yard. She can do short walks in areas that are not frequented by other dogs. What you want to avoid is high traffic areas for dogs such as dog parks, common areas in apartment complexes or hiking trails until she is fully vaccinated. I hope this information helps!
