My unvaccinated dog gave me a tooth scratch. Do I need a rabies shot?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Spitz | Female | 7 months and 12 days old

I got a very light tooth scratch from my dog. She do not have any anti rabies injections yet. Is it necessary for me to take an injection for myself?

I would recommend that you do, especially if you are in an area that has a high incidence of rabies. That being said, I am not a human doctor and you should be consulting with your personal doctor. It always better to err on the side of caution in these cases since rabies is a 99.99% fatal disease.

As for Eva, you need to get her rabies vaccination done as soon as possible.

Best wishes.
