Why is my unspayed Yorkie's stomach hard and she won't eat or move?

Poor Saltay! I'm afraid it sounds like something is seriously wrong. Based on the symptoms you're describing here, I would be concerned that she may have a serious uterine infection called a pyometra - this is a life-threatening emergency that is unfortunately common in middle-aged and older intact females. If this is the problem, she will likely need emergency surgery to remove the infected uterus. Other possible causes of an enlarged stomach, weakness, and decreased appetite would include congestive heart failure, some type of cancer in the abdomen, or internal bleeding. I would strongly recommend taking Saltay to an emergency clinic tonight for an exam, as it may not be safe to wait until morning. The veterinarian there can do blood work and x-rays if needed to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.

As she is unspayed i strongly suspect a uterine infection, it can often be missed on blood test and xray. i strongly recommend taking her urgently to the vet for a recheck, an ultrasound needs to be done and bloods needs to be repeated, if this is what i suspect, she will need an emergency surgery to have her uterus removed.

Poor Clementine! There could be a couple of things causing her pain. I'm not sure if she is spayed or not, but if she is intact, then it could be she has a pyometra causing her pain. A pyometra is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment. It could also be that she has injured herself, has pancreatitis, or could have a tumor. Because I can't see her in person to rule these things out, which are extremely serious, I think it's best she sees a vet now. The vet can diagnose the cause of her pain, and can treat her for it. First off, I'm very sorry your lost your grandmother! Please accept my condolences for your loss. I see that she isn't spayed, and I would be concerned Bailey could have a pyometra. This is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment. It would cause her to not eat and have a swollen stomach. Hi there. This does look a bit odd. Have your veterinarians done any x rays or bloodwork? If Sophie is not spayed and has been sick for a while I would be very concerned with a pyometra (uterine infection) with how distended that abdomen looks. If that's the case-this is an emergency and needs to be looked at right away. I hope this helps!

Severe abdominal pain in a six year old Shih Tzu warrants veterinary attention some time soon. With this type of pain, I imagine Marble is probably not wanting to move around much, eat, or drink either. I would recommend that she is taken in for x-rays and probably some blood work at minimum to see if there is any underlying condition causing this type of discomfort. It is a little hard to tell from the picture, but it sort of looks like the abdomen is a little bit distended and puffed out. Since this has been going on for a few days already, I don't think I would necessarily call this an emergency. I would however recommend getting in sometime tomorrow.
