Why is my unneutered English bulldog's penis bleeding and swollen?

Dogs can acquire infections of their prepuce, they can prolapse their urethra, they can have masses on their penis, or they can have paraphimosis. Hi, it is not normal to bleed so profusely , I would definitely have him reassessed ! Could it be that the penis has been swollen for some time ? If so, it is better to have him checked over sooner rather than later as permanent damage to the penis can occur that can eventually end up in a an operation. Remember that Euro’s breed tolerates pain much better than other breeds but even a small injury causes a lot of pain in this area which is extremely well vascularised. Hope you can have him checked over ASAP.

This is a serious edematous swelling and needs to be seen by a veterinarian today. This may be located in the preputial mucous membrane, or possibly the tip of the penis. Unfortunately I cannot determine this from the photo. Please take Tyson to a veterinarian or PetER today. You may want to put some vaseline on the swelling to keep it from drying out.

If Thor has not had any abdominal x-rays or an abdominal ultrasound performed I would definitely recommend having these tests performed to figure out why there is blood dripping from his penis. I would also recommend a trial of an antibiotic and an antiinflammatory to see if this resolves with symptomatic treatment. This is probably a prostate disease (cancer or infection), this is common in unneautered older dogs, the vet will check the prostate, if it is enlarged he will need to have an ultrasound or CT done to find out if it is a cancer or an infection, he will need to be neutered ASAP.

It sounds like Tyson was masturbating, which neutered dogs can do and is normal. But it sounds like he was a bit vigorous doing it, leading to him injuring his penis and blood. Check his penis to make sure the bleeding has stopped. If he starts humping vigorously again, redirect his attention to something else. Best of luck.
