Will an outdoor Turkish Kangal puppy stay loyal and not run away?

Huskies as a breed love to run off and chase things and go exploring. Yes if they are indoors and do not get enough exercise or mental stimulation they are more likely to run off. You have been lucky with yours though as many huskies never stay home. I would encourage your friend to increase the exercise and give their dog more outdoor time running or walking on a leash. If they let him off the leash I would use a GPS collar on him so they can find him and get him back. There is always a risk of injury when dogs run loose. I couldn't quite decipher what you were asking about with the chow chow or shar pei, but can give some comments about keeping a dog outside. My experience is similar to yours in regard to allowing a dog free-range. Dogs are very territorial and do not like to wander too far outside of their home unless necessary. Ensuring the dog is desexed, has a good shelter, has adequate food and plenty of water will usually keep a dog from wandering off and getting lost. In my experience, hounds are more likely to run away than any other breeds. I think 570 acres is plenty of room for a dog and it's unlikely that they will run away as long as they have been there long enough to know it's their home. I would avoid setting the dog loose right away in a new home, because they may run off in search of their old home. I hope that answers your question well. Hello, it is not uncommon for unneutered male dogs to roam. This is a natural behavior. Neutering him may decrease some of the desire to roam, but if he has been doing this for awhile, it may already be ingrained in his behavior. I would consider getting a fence, either a phsyical fence, or an electric fence, to try to contain your dog. Or you might consider making him an indoor dog and only having him go outside when supervised. Working at an obedience class may help you train him to return when you call, but I don't think it is going to stop him from wandering when you aren't outside with him.

I recommend a Great Pyrenees or other livestock guardian dog. They learn the farm boundaries and the animals and people in the household and stay around to protect everything. They are gentle and prefer to live outside. They will become protective if one of their ‘family’ is in danger only. Many breeds, as you are aware, are more hunting oriented and will take off and follow a scent or go exploring when they want. Small dog breeds tend to run away less then large breed, but this is a very general statement and it can't guaranty in any way that your dog will stay on your property regardless of the breed. you do have plenty of options, these are just examples: jack Russel, Pug, Maltese, Pomeranian, French Bulldog.

First of all, if he’s a male, make sure he’s neutered, or get him neutered when you get him. Neutered dogs are much less likely to go roaming than dogs who are intact. The same can be said of females as well. Other than that, there’s not a great way to predict how this dog will react. Since it sounds like it’s had a pretty isolated life thus far, I expect that he/she may he on the scared and timid side. This could make him/her more likely to stay close by, but could also mean he or she is easily scared off. Perhaps you can put up some inexpensive temporary fencing for him /her until you know a little more how he or she will react. As a breed, typically cocker spaniels want to please their peopleand aren’t notoriously “runners.”

That is a good question, and my answer is - that depends on the dog, and also the farm workers. There are some dogs that are very independent and dogs that are very needy. What matters most is the level of bonding you have while you are home and the attention the pup will get from the farm workers. If the dog gets significant time and attention while you are home, but not while you are away, that might be hard and lead to behavior problems and acting out.. If plenty of affection and attention is given by the farm hands, then my guess is your pup will be happy and loyal when you come home, and the farm hands will become part of the family.
