Best food for 8-week-old teacup chihuahua puppy: wet or dry?

I would recommend Royal Canin chihuahua brand foor or small breed puppy Hill's Sceince Diet, Evo or Eukanuba. I would recommend a food intended for small breed dogs. The three brands I prefer when choosing a food are Hill’s, Royal Canin, and Purina. I think any of these would be a good choice. Additionally, if you are unsure of the age and history of your dog I would recommend taking her in to be examined by your veterinarian. Try feeding her a complete food for small dogs. I personally like to feed Royal Canin, Iams or Hill's Science. There are quite a few good brands of dog food out there, just make sure it is for small dogs and for her age bracket.

This is a great question, especially because there are so many food options out there for puppies! Several brands of food including Hill's Science Diet, Royal Canin, and Purina One are often preferred. These companies do a lot of research and quality control to ensure their foods meet strict nutritional standards so I would recommend one of these brands for Sixx. Personally, I really like Royal Canin's line of puppy foods - they even have a breed-specific diet for Chihuahuas :) Other good options would include Purina Pro Plan and Hills Science Diet. Whatever brand you choose, make sure to feed Peaches the puppy version the entire time that she's nursing, since she will need the extra calories to make milk for the puppies.

I can certainly understand being concerned about your puppy not eating enough. It's really not the best for for your puppy, as it's not formulated to meet her nutritional needs. It's not something that is recommended to give to a puppy on a regular basis, usually only when the animal is sick. In addition, there may be ingredients in the baby food that is not safe for her to ingest. It could be that she isn't used to dry dog food, and you can try making a puppy mush for her to see if that helps. I would soak a high quality puppy formulated dry food in warm water until soft. Then mix that with puppy formula such as KMR to make a mush the consistency of oatmeal. Over the next two weeks, gradually increase the amount of dry puppy food and decrease the amount of water and KMR you use until she is eating the dry puppy food only. If she still doesn't want to eat much, then I would have her seen before the 15th.
