My stray dog won't get in the car. How can I take her to the vet?

Great question! There are a few things you can do with Booboo. He does need to see a vet, so I would see if there is a mobile vet in your area who can come to your home to see him. You can also see if there is a vet in your area that makes house calls. To help with his anxiety, given that he seems to have a lot of it, you can discuss with the vet about the possibility of giving Booboo anti-anxiety drugs. There are a few OTC things you can try as well. You can get his a DAP collar, which releases pheromones when in contact with his skin that helps with anxiety. You can also get a DAP diffuser to plug in which can be used with the DAP collar as well.

I would recommend contacting a mobile veterinarian and see if they can come out to your house and work on her there. If she is too difficult to handle, you may need a veterinarian and technicians to safely grab her using restraining techniques / drugs to be able to get her the treatment she needs. You can even feed her treats with sedatives in them to get her. I would see if the mobile veterinarian can come out to start with. I hope this helps! The majority of hospitals have experience in these types of scenarios and are more than capable of dealing with this. They would restrain him well and be able to proceed with the vaccinations and whatever else was needed. You could try to find a mobile vet that would come to your house to examine her. You could also get a cage muzzle and put it on her before taking her to the vet so she won't be able to attack another animal or person. You could also ask your vet for a mild sedation which might help, too.

Hello. I would purchase a medium sized storage tote & coax Minka in. Or, you can place the tote over her, slip the lid underneath & carefully turn the tote right side up. Tape or secure the lid. It you have more than a 10 minute trip to your vet, make sure the tote has ventilation holes punched into it. Once you get to the vet, they should be able to handle her. It sounds like she's a little scared, which is understandable given it's a new place. It's good on you to look after her, and be concerned about her sleeping outside. You can try leaving a trail of treats into the home, so she has to venture into the house to get the next one. Be sure to move slowly and quietly around her, and once she is inside the house, you can shut the door. You can try getting her inside with a collar and leash as well. If she allows you to carry her, you may be able to pick her up and carry her inside. Finally, you can lead the garage door open a little, and make a bed inside there for her. Leave out food and water next to the bed, and she may be tempted to go inside the garage. I would do that as a last option, as I realize you may not want to leave a door open at night. In the morning, I would recommend taking her into the vet to scan her for a microchip to see if she does have an owner.
