How to stop my senior dog from scratching a lump until it's raw?

Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Male | unneutered | 15 years and 10 months old | 25 lbs

[He] is scratching a nm cyst on left flank. Not bleeding, but down to the flesh. Vet knows about lump, but not irritable scratching. No pain. Has other nodules types on head and body. ["Patch", he is a +- 15yo JR Terrier. uk]

Hi there! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Even if your veterinarian has determined that this is a benign growth, you could consider removal from a palliative standpoint just to avoid further self-trauma of it. You could consider removal of any of the nodules that seem to be bothering Patch. Good luck!
