My dog keeps biting my pants. How can I train her to stop?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would assume she is doing this to get his attention to play. Bella is young and needs a lot of exercise and interaction. I would add more walks or play time. Consider enrolling her in doggie daycare a few times per week. Otherwise I would have a leash on her at all times and when she starts this behavior, pull her down, make her sit and remove her from the situation. Consider 5-10 mins in "time out" in another room or crate. Then exercise her. I hope this helps!

My recommendation for this type of behavior is to make sure you are in control of the situation. If dogs know that you are not fully in control, they will take advantage of this. I would recommend putting a basket muzzle on her when you go outside so she cannot bite you, this way you have better control over her and she is unable to bite you. Next, I would get a pronged collar to help gain better control over her so that you can correct the behavior better. When she stops the behavior or is being good, she gets rewarded with treats. This will help reinforce the good behavior. When she bites or tries to attack you, a firm tug on the leash with the pronged collar in a downward motion and saying "off!" will help deter this behavior. I also recommend incorporating a spray bottle with water in the training and every time she does this behavior, spritz her in the face, tug on the collar and say "off!". Sorry you are having some behavioral issues with Aki. Is she biting aggressively or trying to play? Puppies need A LOT of play and exercise, and it may be that she's just got a lot of pent up energy. Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! A lot of this is puppy behavior and jumping is the hardest bad habit to break. It sounds like you need more professional help if you have tried training her and this is where you are at. I recommend a private trainer than can work one on one with you and Bella. A group class setting will not get you where you need to be. I applaud you for trying to fix this now at such a young age. I can't tell you the countless numbers of animals I see where the owners think this behavior is okay. I would recommend starting on some basic commands with Panda. This would include sit, come and stay. That way when Panda starts to chew on your feet you can re direct her into a basic command. I would reward her with a treat so he knows that the command is the way she should be acting, I would also recommend starting her in puppy training classes to help with her attention. Hope that helps
