Dogs barking at work? How to keep them quiet in a hotel room?

Poor pup! This is an issue for many dogs in hotel rooms. You can try leaving her with a long-lasting treat such as a Kong toy stuffed with peanut butter to help keep her busy and encourage her to settle. You could also try a DAP pheromone collar along with a natural calming supplement like Zylkene or Composure to see if this helps.

I recommend using music in the house so she doesn’t hear as much outdoor noises, and keep the shades drawn when you’re not home so she isn’t watching outside activity. Put Bentley in his crate with a special treat, rawhide or something to chew on when you take Cleo out. Only give him this special treat when Cleo is gone. Soon he'll realize that he gets something extra special when she is out for her walk. Also I would walk him first or play with him so he is tired when you take Cleo. I’m sure this is very annoying. Since you’ve already tried increasing his exercise I would try confining him in a covered crate in a dark area. You can give Nixon something to chew on and have music playing so he can’t hear noises out in the yard. If he continues with the barking and anxiety then I’d talk with your veterinarian about prescription medication for anxiety. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! There are medications that can be used to reduce anxiety at times. These types of behavior can improve though this does require in person training with the help of a qualified dog trainer. I would encourage you to contact a dog trainer that can work with you and your pups in person to really take care of this behavior. The sooner these behaviors are dealt with, the more likely it is that you can improve and resolve them. Good luck and have a great day!

Since it is such a new, loud noise, he is not used to hearing it yet. My best advice is for you to ignore the noise - the less you react to the noise, Charlie will realize that it is not a big deal. It may take 2-3 days for him to adjust. If after this time, he is still barking incessantly, I recommend asking your veterinarian about a calming medication he/she could prescribe for the short term. A good example is Trazodone. I hope this is helpful!

You can see about training with bark collar or getting a collar that sprays every they bark to discourage that behavior. Make sure they get plenty of exercise to help tire them out also and have toys so they won't get bored
