My dog won't stop barking at construction noise. What can I do?

These types of behavior can improve though this does require in person training with the help of a qualified dog trainer. I would encourage you to contact a dog trainer that can work with you and your pups in person to really take care of this behavior. Patience is key. Continue to reinforce the "No bark" command. Try to determine the cause for barking (boredom, hunger, stress, anxiety,etc) and decrease or eliminate the stimuli. Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. Charlie looks like a sweet girl! I would recommend using a spray bottle filled with water and using this every time she barks. You can also use an empty can and fill it with coins and shake it at Charlie every time she barks to help deter her from barking. Citronella collars are also a good option. You can find these collars online quite easily. These collars will spray a fine mist of citronella in front of Charlie's face every time she barks. I hope this helps! Dogs can become anxious when separated from their owner (even if it's a quick trip to the store!) or when moving into a new place. I would recommend encouraging independent play by offering Dallas a kong filled with frozen peanut butter or another toy/treat that encourages him to play by himself. I would also look into a pheromone collar and thundershirt to see if that can help him as well. If these suggestions are not enough or you have further concerns, I would recommend either setting up a consult or reaching out to your regular veterinarian for further advice. Good luck!

The behavior you are talking about is likely Oliver trying to establish dominance over the other 2 dogs. I would recommend neutering Oliver to see if this helps reduce this behavior. You can also try the Adaptil products and see if this helps to reduce the behavior. Adaptil products can be found online or at your local PetCo. To deter him from barking, I recommend using a spray bottle and spritzing him in the face every time he barks. You can also use citronella spray collars that are triggered by barking and then emit a fine mist of citronella oil in front of the face. The citronella collar can be found online as well. I would highly recommend you consider contacting a local dog trainer who can work with you in person as that is needed. When it comes to dog behavior modification it is all about positive reinforcement and most importantly a lot of patience, persistent and cosistency. I would encourage you to start giving the treats at a later time so that she can bark and not affect your neighbors. Now, what you are going to do is that you let her go until she stops to your command for her to calm down. When she finally does you praise her and give her the treat. Sooner or later she will associate staying quiet with something positive. It just takes some time. Once she learns then you may be able to go back to the morning routine.
