My dog has pyoderma. What else can I do to speed up his recovery?

Pyoderma usually needs antibiotic oral treatment if it is located in more than one place, if it is in one specific place an antibiotic ointment might be enough. bathing can also help but only with a special medicated shampoo.

Ideally, your dog should be examined by your veterinarian for confirmation. Treatment typically involves a combination of systemic antibiotics and topical treatment. The affected areas should be cleansed gently. Allow any scabs to fall off on their own.

Pyoderma is a skin infection. Often times if it recurs I will treat for a longer period of time and I will also start looking for other problems that could be making a skin infection more likely such as skin mites or food allergies. Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! Thanks for the pictures. It appears as though Sparky may have a bacterial skin infection, or puppy pyoderma. A lot of times puppy pyoderma resolves on it's own. If it gets worse than this I would recommend taking Sparky to the Vet to be evaluated and prescribed oral antibiotics. Impetigo in puppies is also known as puppy pyoderma. It is usually a self-limiting process and will go away without any treatment. To help it go a away a little faster, you can gently clean the area with a dog shampoo that contains salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. I like the DermaPet products, such as DermaPet Benzoyl Peroxide Plus Shampoo and follow the directions on the label. If it starts to spread or doesn't seem better in 3-5 days, you may take Riri to the vet for diagnosis.

In most cases these skin infections, called bacterial pyoderma, are allergy-related.
