Why is my Shih Tzu sick with vomiting, weight loss, and red eyes?

Please ocntact your vets office for a recheck or arrange for a second opinion - such severe weakness is very concerning and must be treated by a vet as soon as possible. Blood tests to check for internal medical causes such as liver disease would be recommended at this stage given his lack of recovery

If the weight loss is more than 10% of the her body weight, this could be abnormal and should ideally checked. Gastrointestinal abnormal absorption of nutrients may be present and should be investigated. Usually chronic gastrointestinal inflammations/infections are responsible for it. I would start with a blood test and some imaging procedures of the abdomen (an ultrasound).

It sounds as Shawndee is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

Hi there and thank you for your post! From your description, it sounds as though Winston may be fighting a respiratory infection that may be getting much more severe. Especially if the neck is now becoming extended, this means that Winston is struggling to breath quite a bit. I would suggest you get him seen by a vet sooner rather than later. It is possible that he will need antibiotic therapy and hospitalization if his breathing is worsening. Bringing him into the bathroom with the hot water running so he breathes in the steam may help with his breathing. I would strongly encourage you to get him seen by a licensed vet though for appropriate treatment. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns! Poor Takumi. If you tried offering him chicken and he won't eat, that tells me he is quite sick and cannot be treated at home. He needs to see a vet immediately to get this diagnosed and treated. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. Poor Bella! Dogs have a higher body temperature than humans (typically 101-102.5F), so that could be why she seems very warm. It could also be she has a fever. You can take her temperature rectally to check. The vomiting and diarrhea could be caused by a severe GI illness, eating something rotten, a foreign body, or pancreatitis to name a few causes. Whenever a dog is both vomiting and having diarrhea, it's time to see a vet. Please bring her into one first thing in the morning. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
