Adopting a Shiba Inu? What health info to check for puppy and parents?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shiba Inu | Male | unneutered | 1lb

i am adopting a shiba inu from a woman who lives in a country nearby, however i would like to check it’s health certs to ensure that everything is in order. What are the things i should check for in both the puppy and it’s parents? If she is unable to talk to me about it’s parents, would it still be advisable to adopt the pup?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! You should ask about what has been done for the pup as far as vaccinations and deworming goes and also what they have been feeding the pup. While it would be nice to know more information about the parents, if they do not have this more information you can still adopt him. Best of luck!
