Best food for 5-month-old Shiba Inu puppy: dry, wet, or both?

Hello, I have a 5 almost 6 month old SHIBU IMU male. I was wondering what is the best type of food for him & should I feed him just dry food or both dry & wet?

Hello and ha m you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! There are only three pet food brands which are fully approved by veterinarians. These are science diet, royal canin and purina pro plan. Only these three Have undergone detailed research to ensure they provide an adequate and nutritious diet for pets. This reasearch is approved by veterinarians. Any other food brands may not be as regulated or researched as thoroughly. For this reason I would only advise feeding one of those three.

I would also highly recommend that for Brodie you find a puppy formulation of whichever brand you chose for medium breed dogs.

Buddy is so cute! I'm not sure if the Pro Pac kibbles is a puppy formulated food, and if it's not, he needs to be on one. Puppies need higher amounts of protein, calcium, and calories than an adult dog and a puppy formulated food will provide one. Brands of puppy food I personally recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. It's fine to add in canned dog food, just make sure it's puppy formulated. What dry dog food is recommended for my adult 3-year-old Shih Tzu?

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. As long as she doesn't have any food intolerances or allergies, you can feed Klovy any type of dry dog food that is formulated for adult maintenance. Some great brands are Hills, Purina, Beneful, Blue Buffalo and Pedigree. I recommend avoiding grain-free diets, as these can predispose dogs to heart disease. I hope this is helpful!

What food, how much, and how often for my large breed puppy?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! There are many great diets out there that you may find at your local pet store. I personally prefer the Purina Pro Plan shredded blends for puppies as they are generally inexpensive, are of great quality and dogs seems to love it. For the amount to feed her, I advice you follow the guidelines that you will find in the back of the bag. Keep in mind that you should get the puppy blend. Also, keep in mind that as she grows, you will notice in the back of the bag that it will advice you feed her more. When she becomes a year old, she should be switched to an adult diet. What are good food brands for my 2-month-old Pomeranian mix puppy?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! In the US we recommend Purina, Royal Canin, Hills/Science Diet, or Iams brands. I would choose a puppy formula in small bite size for Kylie. Make sure to mix her old food in with the new food over a couple of days so you don’t upset her tummy. Hi there. I would recommend feeding both, but make sure it's a diet made for small breed dogs and is high quality. There are a variety of brands available, some good ones are Royal Canin, Natural Balance, Taste of the Wild but you may also want to ask your vet's advice so they can make a recommendation based on your pet's needs. This is a great question, especially because there are so many food options out there for puppies! Several brands of food including Hill's Science Diet, Royal Canin, and Purina One are often preferred. These companies do a lot of research and quality control to ensure their foods meet strict nutritional standards so I would recommend one of these brands for Sixx. What's the best dog food for my 4-month-old Toy Poodle puppy?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Any of the following brands can be fed so long as it is puppy food for small dogs. The food needs to be slowly transition over 7-10 days introducing the new food in about 20% increment every other day. For detail, contact your veterinarian on how to transition the food. Recommended brands are Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina Pro Plan, and Iams. Choose one, and stick with it until about one year of age. After that, transition to an adult formula for small breeds from the same brand. Void feeding anything other than the dogs food and a few treats made specifically for dogs. Hopes this helps!
