Why is my senior poodle drinking a lot and throwing up white foam?

Hello, sorry to hear about Vanilla. If she is done this once or twice, you should remove any food for the rest of the day and start her on a bland diet later on. This can be composed of plain white rice, skinless and boneless chicken, and low fat cottage cheese. If this does not improve her vomiting, or if she vomits more than 4 times in one day then Vanilla should be seen by a veterinarian today. This could be caused by a large number of things but in older dogs, inflammation of the intestines, a dietary indiscretion, liver disease, kidney disease, pancreatitis, or even some form of infection could cause vomiting in a dog. She may have an underlying disease such arthritis or spondylosis in her hips or back causing her to not be very strong in the rear legs. These may also be signs of an infected uterus since she is not spayed. At her age, kidney disease and diabetes can occur and often start with drinking more and urinating more. Your vet can do a blood panel to check and an x ray to see what medications are best to keep her comfortable more.

Organ issues such as kidney, liver, or pancreas diseases can be cause as well as endocrine illness such as diabetes, gastrointestinal tumors as well as certain cancers can all be possibilities among others. Sara will need a hands on exam with her veterinarian as soon as possible in order to help determine the cause. Your veterinarian may recommend blood work and/or x-rays or other diagnostic testing to aide in a diagnosis. Treatment will depend on the cause. I hope this helps!

Problems within the GI tract can include obstruction, eating foreign material, inflammation, parasites, etc. Systemic diseases that make pets nauseous include liver/kidney disease or pancreatitis. If Bubba continues to vomit and unable to keep even water down I would recommend having her seen by a veterinarian. Severe vomiting can lead to dehydration and abnormalities in some electrolytes. Your veterinarian can examine Bubba and then discuss additional diagnostics such as bloodwork and abdominal x-rays to look for a cause for her symptoms. Hope this helps, good luck!

At her age, Lovie should be examined by your veterinarian. Her symptoms may indicate kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes or endocrine disease. Your vet can submit blood and urine samples to assess major organ function. Once the underlying cause is diagnosed, the appropriate treatment can be administered.

Lola is extremely sick. I see that she is unspayed, and her symptoms could be caused by a pyometra. This is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment. You have to take her into a vet immediately.
