My senior Golden Retriever stopped vomiting but won't eat. Why?

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | spayed | 50 lbs

Hi my moms golden retriever had vomiting for about a day or so but it has stopped but she only had a couple spoon full bites of her dog food yesterday and nothing today but water. She's a pretty layed back lazy dog and she up there in age (70 in peoples age) what might be going on? Thank you in advance

It could be that Dakota has a GI illness or may have eaten something that upset her stomach. It's good that she has stopped vomiting and is drinking water, but I imagine her stomach is still a little sensitive from the vomiting. I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps her. I would feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Oh no, poor Lexi! This vomiting could be caused by a GI illness, eating something rotten, or something more serious such as liver disease, kidney disease, or cancer among others. It's good that she is drinking, and as long as she is keeping down the water, I can give you a home remedy to try. Withhold food until tomorrow morning, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. I hope this helps and she feels better soon!
