Why is my senior poodle stiff, struggling to walk, and neck pain?

It could still be pain associated with a leg even if nothing seems wrong with them. I recommend that you have Sausage evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Likely diagnostics include radiographs. Treatment would be based on findings. At the very least they can prescribe pain control medications to make Sausage feel better. I recommend getting her checked by your vet right away. She could have a disc problem in her neck or upper back that is painful. Your vet will do an exam, labwork, and x-rays, and based on these results will be better able to tell you what is wrong with her and what the best treatment will be.

This can be caused by a herniated disc, infection of the vertebra, or inflammation of the spinal cord. Your vet can perform x-rays, and refer you to a specialty hospital that can perform specialized imaging such as a CT scan or a spinal fluid tap to further distinguish what can be going on. I would recommend having Dougal examined by a vet ASAP. These symptoms could be caused by muscle strain, or could be associated with a slipped disc or other serious musculoskeletal issue. The vet will do an exam and may need x-rays to look at the neck and spine. They can prescribe pain medications or other mediations based on what they think is going on.

I'm so sorry that we are just now getting to your question. We are a little behind on answering questions. I agree with the symptoms you are describing that Scruffy's neck may be bothering him. We can see bulging discs that can cause pain anywhere along the back and neck. I would recommend having your veterinarian examine Scruffy to determine if his neck is painful and determine the best treatment for him. In the meantime, I would recommend keeping Scruffy quiet and not allow any running or jumping which might make his pain worse. If at any point Scruffy is unable to walk normally, it is a medical emergency and he needs to be seen by a veterinarian right away. Good luck! Poor Pepper. It is so hard to tell you what is wrong with the moving and not eating without an exam. It could be arthritis along with something causing a decreased appetite. He needs full exam, lab work, and x-rays, and pain control to be able to answer that question. Call your veterinarian first thing in the morning and make an appointment

Since he’s still eating this is most likely from pain not an internal organ problem. There is a good chance he over did it and he has arthritis pain. I recommend giving him a gentle massage, and getting him up for several short walks during the day. Once he’s up and moving a little he should feel better. Bring him in Monday for an exam and a senior work up if he hasn’t had one lately. They may do X-rays to check his joints. They can then tell you whether it’s arthritis or a more serious medical problem. There is prescription medication for his pain and he should be back to his old self in a few days.
