My deaf senior Jack Russell shakes and collapses. Is it vestibular?

Sky may have a problem with her equilibrium, ie an inner ear infection. you need to take her to a veterinarian ASAP. The vet will want to do x-rays of the head to check what is going on in her inner ear, and will give sky medication to stop the nausea. There also may be another problem with the brain. Please take Sky to an out of hours vet now.

There is more information below but we don't know why it happens and in general it usually gets better within a few days. Of course, we can never rule out a middle ear infection, brain tumor, or other problem so I always recommend seeing a vet. That is very concerning and I would be worried about a neurologic issue such as seizure, or a functional nerve/muscle issue. If this has happened multiple times it would be best to bring Jack into your vet for a thorough senior wellness exam and testing such as bloodwork to rule out serious issues.

Idiopathic head tremors (head tremors of unknown cause) can occur in dogs of any age. These episodes are usually self limiting and can often be interrupted by distracting your dog with treats. However, head tremors can also be secondary to underlying metabolic diseases or electrolyte imbalances. They can also progress to full blown seizures. Because of this, I would recommend you get Patch checked out by your veterinarian as soon as possible.

What you are describing sounds like it may be seizure. This can happen at any age from getting into something or having a change in their nervous system or brain. At her age, it is safest to have her checked by a vet to make sure there are metabolic reasons this was started. If it is a seizure then there is medicine they can start to help prevent further ones and control it

What you are describing with Shasta may be something called vestibular disease.
