I have a 14 year old small white dog with short hair. Recently she has lost her hair on her nose. Should I be concerned?

Nikki could be losing hair for a few reasons. It’s hard to see exactly but the skin doesn’t look red or irritated from the photos. If that is the case, sometimes the hair loss cycles can become synchronized and the hair will fall out and regrow at the same time. This can sometimes also happen with the changing seasons. These are generally nothing to worry about and will self correct.
If the skin is red, flakey or irritated then that can indicate infection. If the area is itchy, appears to be ulcerative or spreading, then this is also a problem. Nikki should see the veterinarian if the hairloss fits in either of those categories.
Endocrine diseases can sometimes cause changes in the hair coat as well. Watch for any change in drinking or urinating habits as well as energy levels. Have some bloodwork checked if this is seen.
I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions!
