My senior dog has multiple symptoms. What could be the diagnosis?

It sounds like Button is pretty sick. She is showing several different symptoms and could have a number of things going on. In older dogs like her I worry about things such as diabetes, a urinary tract infection, and cancer. I would recommend taking her to your vet to be checked out as soon as possible. Your vet will most likely want to perform some lab work, possibly a urinalysis, and maybe even some x-rays. I am so very sorry to hear about Koko. Without having examined him it is very difficult for us to give possible causes, and your vet is definitely the person to ask for this information. Possible conditions that could cause the symptoms you describe could include tumors in the brain, stroke, a herniated intervertebral disk compressing the spinal cord, trauma, a tumor bleeding into the abdomen causing severe anemia and weakness, just to name a few. It sounds like Koko was suffering and you did your best to alleviate his suffering. I am very sorry for your loss.

The brain tumor may have spread to his other organs causing him to have multiple problems. Unfortunately, it sounds like his quality of life is not very good at this point. You could have your vet run some lab work and possibly take x-rays of his abdomen to see if anything can be done to help him and make him more comfortable but, if not, than you may need to consider euthanasia, especially if he seems to be suffering. So sorry that Peppe is having all these problems.

I am so sorry to hear that your pet has so many major issues that are debilitating and causing her to have a poor quality of life. I do think that if her condition cannot be improved with medications then it is someting you should discuss with your veterinarian. Humane euthansia, although it is probably not something you want to consider, should be considered if Sophie is not able to helped with medical management. However, there are pain medications that can be tried to see if they make a difference. You can discuss with your vet about trying Tramadol and/or Gabapentin to help with pain management. Probiotics can also be tried to help with her diarrhea, as well as a high fiber diet such as Royal Canin Gasrointestinal High Fiber (Rx). It sounds like she may have cancer involving her nervous system, which is why she can't maintain her mobitliy well. Poor girl. I am so sorry to hear that Lady bug is still not well despite numerous tests and x-rays. Some pets have underlying disease that evades detection with preliminary tests like CBC/Chemistry/Electrolyte analysis and Radiographs; which is why we have more advanced imaging tests available such as MRI/CT scan and an gastroesophageal scope. You mentioned that the vet recommended scoping your poor baby to help determine the underlying cause. The scope is highly effective at detecting injury to the mucosal linining of the esophagus, stomach and intestines (when rectal scoping done). If that is what is recommended based on your complete history and lab findings through your vet, then I would say it is worth considering. Coupled with the other clinical signs you are listing, the basis of the condition may very well be neurologic rather than a primary orthopedic condition. I would have him seen by a veterinarian soon so that he can have a thorough neurologic exam. Depending on the results, the vet may be able to isolate and localize the condition to a certain part of the body and be better suited to direct therapy and diagnostics. In all likelihood, diagnostics are going to be required including blood work and imaging in order to make some headway in a diagnosis of the problem.
