My senior dog hit her head and is very sick. Is it an emergency?

It sounds like she is in pain. She could have a problem with her neck or back causing the pain. Since she is otherwise acting normal, it might not be an emergency but taking her to the emergency clinic tonight would give her some relief and make her feel a lot better. She may need an anti-inflammatory, pain medications, and a muscle relaxer. Hope she feels better soon!

There is nothing you can do for her at home for this, head trauma can be very serious and requires veterinary treatments. She needs to see a vet now. I'm concerned at her age and small size, Lola could have head trauma from hitting her head. The vomiting and lethargy are quite concerning signs. Find your nearest local ER vet or call around vet clinics in your area to see if there is a vet on call to have her seen now. Best of luck.

I am so sorry to hear that Molly isn’t feeling well. Her non specific symptoms don’t give me much to go by, bit based on her age and breed I would worry about back pain, fever from many different causes, uterine infection if she is not spayed, kidney disease, and many other possibilities. I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. Alternatively she could be seen by an emergency veterinarian immediately. After a physical examination the veterinarian should be able to further guide you on what she may need diagnostic and /or treatment wise. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon. Monitor for any vomiting or trouble walking or a head tilt. If you notice any eye movements jumping back and forth or a head tilt, that is a sign of head trauma. If you notice no signs after 12 -24 hours then you have nothing to worry about

Hello, any severe lethargy, persistent vomiting, bloody diarrhea, labored breathing, collapsing episodes, pale mucus membranes, being non-responsive, seizure activity lasting longer than 3 minutes or having frequent seizing may all constitute for immediate medical attention.
