My senior dog fell, no break. Are all these vet meds necessary?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 9 years and 9 months old | 22 lbs

My dog is 10 years old. Before filling down from the stairs she was very active. After she fell down around 12 days ago she still can't step on her back right leg though x-ray shows that nothing is broke. After making a blood tests (attached) her vet doctor prescribed her Lasix 40mg 1/2 tab. daily for 5 days Cephadar 250 mg 1 tab daily for 7 days Corotrop 5 mg , 2 tab once a day for 3 days I just wanted to ask, does my dog really need all this medicine? She was very well before her fell.

So sorry that Dolly fell down the steps. Since the x-ray did not show a break then she may have a soft tissue injury, like a strain, sprain, or possibly a ligament tear. I am not exactly sure why your vet prescribed a diuretic (Lasix), an antibiotic (Cephadar), and Corotrop (heart medication) so you really need to discuss with your veterinarian. Please call your vet an ask him/her why the medications were prescribed and exactly what the medications are treating. It is difficult to make a recommendation without knowing your dogs entire medical history and knowing the results of the physical examination.
