My senior dog has a bleeding head cyst. Does it need removal?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | spayed | 9 years and 10 months old | 16 lbs

My shitzu Tia is 10. She has this little cyst in her head. It bleed for a few days and she has taken a 7 day course of antibiotics. I am attaching pics after treatment plus I’m cleaning it every day. Do you think it needs to be removed. She is eating and drinking, sleeping as normal.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Tia. If the mass continues to bleed or becomes infected again, then I would have it removed. Continue to clean it. If it heals, then it should be fine to leave it. I hope this information helps!
