My puppy won't eat Royal Canin. Can I switch to a new dog food?

Hi. It appears Bonea is a young large breed dog. I think Royal Canin foods may be available for you. If so I highly recommend thier large breed puppy/growth formulas. Feed only that diet. You can even use pieces of kibble as treats when training. Most healthy puppies will eat when hungry so getting him to eat shouldn't be a problem. No table food or scraps what so ever. If he is very picky or not eating well or growing well then a veterinary visit may be needed. Hope this helps.

I would recommend feeding3-4 times a day at this age, if his appetite is poor then he will not be able to consume enough nutrition in two large meals. I do not recommend home preparing diets, especially in large and giant breed puppies with a risk of joint and bone disorders developing as they mature due to nutrient deficiencies and or excesses. It is practically impossible to mix some added protein and supplements to a high quality pupy food and expect the diet to become balanced. If he stopped eating it just because he doesn't like it then you can a new brand of food and see if that improves his appetite. I really like Royal Canin and Eukanuba brand foods. Both have great puppy diets. I don't know if he is a large or small breed puppy so get him the appropriate sized puppy food. Some dogs are just picky and you have to change the food around a few times before you find one that sticks. If he stopped eating because he has no appetite then he needs to see the vet for an exam. This is a great question, especially because there are so many food options out there for puppies! Several brands of food including Hill's Science Diet, Royal Canin, and Purina One are often preferred. These companies do a lot of research and quality control to ensure their foods meet strict nutritional standards so I would recommend one of these brands for Sixx. Hello! I would recommend feeding her a large breed puppy food for the first 1.5 to 2 years of life. I like the brands Purina, Royal Canin, and Hill's. A diet specifically made for large breeds will be the best for her bone growth. You can try to make kibble more enticing by adding warm water or low sodium chicken broth. I do not recommend any grain free or raw diets as they are clinically associated with nutritional problems in dogs. I hope this is helpful! You might consider soaking the dog food to make it softer/easier to eat since he is still young. Mixing a small amount of rice or cooked chicken breast or lean ground beef may entice him we just don't want him to fill up on those alone. I am not familiar with the Canine Creek food, be sure it is appropriate for puppies or switch to the Royal Canin puppy food as this is a reliable/trustworthy brand.

Congrats on the new puppy! I would definitely start slowly transitioning him to a commercial dog food. I am not sure which brands you have in your area but I love royal canin, science diet, iams, and purina. If you don't have these brands, the main thing is that you want to try to find a large breed puppy formula for him to be on until he is about 1 year old. I would start by stopping the milk as this can cause him to have an upset tummy. I would also start to slowly mix in the new puppy food and over about 10 days, increase the amount of puppy food and decrease the amount of chicken and rice. I hope this helps!
