Why does my puppy whine so much after playing? Is he over-excited?

It is possible that your puppy is just excited while playing with his toys, and so makes happy or whiny sounds. Some dogs and puppies will "play growl" as they play tug of war or other games and just do it due to excitement. This is a very normal behavior unless you are seeing signs of stress or pain during the play session. If you'd like your puppy to whine less when trying to get to a toy, you can try an activity of having him sit and wait, and then give the toy once he is calm. (This may take a few minutes for very excited puppies!) This will help to teach him that sitting and being calm will get him toys, while being too excited will not.

Having said that, if he is whining from pain, this is likely due to his maturing teeth. You can try using teething toys which help them when their teeth feel uncomfortable. I'd rest her tonight. No running, jumping, or playing. Take her out to potty on a leash, and bring her right back in when she's done. Other things you could consider include letting her run around at the dog park, playing fetch, having her spend time at a doggy day care with other dogs of a similar age. This will also improve with time as she is really young now. This will get better with time though those activities can help in the meantime. Good luck!

Hi, I suspect Marley whines in his crate after a walk because he wants to continue playing and exploring. I don't think it would be associated with him pooping on the walk unless he seemed sore around his anus or straining to defecate. You probably need to crate him to leave him safely, but if you have time after the walk, engage in play with him so that he enjoys a little extra attention.
