My puppy is very weak and hasn't eaten in a week. Is he dying?

Seeing that your puppy is quite young, it is possible that he is dealing with some infectious disease such as Parvo or Distemper. I would have him examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. At 2 months of age, this has me worried that he may be battling an infection such as Parvo virus. He may also be dehydrated if he is weak and is likely in need of fluid therapy for rehydration. I would recommend having him examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I would have him parvo tested and have his blood tested to see if there are any other abnormalities. Subcutaneous fluids would certainly help him feel better and he may be so dehydrated the IV fluids may be the best option for him. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Spyke! I think Spyke is very sick. Only you can decide if you want to have him examined, blood work and X-rays done to find out WHY his sick before you decide to put him down. 13 years old is a good long life. If he isn't eating and is vomiting so much he can barely get up and is falling down that is not a good quality of life. If you can not do testing or do not want to put him through a lot then it sounds like it might be time. I am very sorry and I wish you all the very best!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Blacky. I recommend seeking veterinary care for him as soon as possible. Several weeks is way too long for a puppy to go without proper nutrition. Based on his exam findings, fecal testing will be recommended to look for any intestinal parasites or other intestinal infections. Based on these results, either treatment can be recommended or further testing if necessary. He may require deworming medication, antibiotics and fluids to rehydrate him. Unfortunately the puppy needs to see a vet for an exam. I would call a local SPCA or see if your Vet has a "rainy day" type fund from anonymous donors to help people with pet care costs. Possible causes are: intestinal parasites, foreign body ingestion (needs surgery to remove something stuck), from this blue pill or toxin, parvo virus or other viral or bacterial infection, food allergy or food intolerance or a genetic problem. I would try feeding him small frequent meals of a bland diet and call your local SPCA to see if they have a low cost Veterinary clinic. I hope this helps and I wish the puppy the best!

Poor Marley. He sounds very sick. I would strongly recommend to get him seen by your vet as soon as possible. There is a chance that he may have something going on that could be fixed or at least given something to help entice his appetite and make him feel better. If he has something really serious going on that is either unable to be fixed or there are too many cost concerns, you may consider humane euthanasia. I know this is a very difficult time but it is always best to consider his quality of life and suffering in times like this. I hope that he has something that can be fixed easily and you won't have to make such a hard decision. Please know you are in my thoughts.
