Puppy has a small growth near her vulva. Is it a wart or blister?

Hi there and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! From the picture, it looks similar to a wart which can be common in younger animals and puppies. Often times, these will not pose a problem and will regress on their own. I would keep an eye on it and if it starts getting larger or changing in shape or color in any way, please have your veterinarian take a closer look. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Cersei. The picture is a little fuzzy, but she may have a wart on her muzzle. In young dogs these are spread by a virus and are contagious to other dogs. It is more common if she frequents dog parks or doggy daycare where she plays with other dogs. The warts will usually develop on the lip margins as well. If it is not a wart, then it is likely a small growth. Most are benign in young dogs, but rarely skin cancer can develop. It is best for her to see her veterinarian to determine exactly what has developed and if treatment is required. I hope this information helps!

Mast cell tumors are very uncommon in young dogs, so if the masses look like viral papillomas, those would be more common in a 9 month old puppy. Viral papillomas have a pretty characteristic appearance, but it is always a good idea to have your vet examine Daphne and make the diagnosis. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Thanks for the pictures! My hope, since Sophie is young, that the bump is a histiocytoma. These are benign bumps that are button-like, red, and hairless that can be seen in young dogs. They usually go away on their one in 2-3 months. Sometimes they ulcerate as they regress. If it gets larger, starts bothering Sophie or doesn’t go away in 2-3 months then you should have Sophie looked at by a Vet. There are other skin masses that can look like that, some are benign but there are ones that are also cancerous. I hope this helps and I wish Sophie the best!

It looks like either a wart (papilloma) or a histiocytoma tumor. Neither of these are serious. I personally would wait and see if it goes away on it's own. A histiocytoma usually will but a papilloma will not. So, if it does not go away within 4-6 weeks then I would have it checked by your vet. If you are worried though, you should go ahead and have her checked now. It is always better to be safe than sorry. Hope this helps. Best wishes!

It is hard to tell but this appears to be a possible growth. Growths in puppies ar usually either papillomas or histiocytomas, both benign masses. I would suggest monitoring this mass for the next week or so. If it starts to get bigger, then its best to have your vet examine it and perhaps test it to ensure it is only a benign mass and nothing to be concerned about. Sometimes an anti-inflammatory medication is needed to help with the irritation that these cause. Also if Loki begins to scratch at it, its best to place an e-collar to prevent her from irritating it further. I hope everything works out well for your pet Loki. Best wishes and take care.

Thank you for the photo of the lump on the side of Lily's vulva, I can see it clearly in the photo. From the photo, it doesn't appear to be ulcerated, bleeding, or look otherwise "nasty" on the outside. That doesn't necessarily rule out it being a malignant lump, but this appearance is better than it being what I described above, if that makes sense. While there is a chance it could be malignant, given her age, there is also a possibility that it could simply be a benign growth, a good possibility given its appearance. Again, I can't say that for certain, but benign growths and malignant growths tend to have certain characteristics, and appearance can be one of those characteristics (but not always!). Sorry that I can't be more specific, but unfortunately I cannot be specific without seeing her in person. I do think it's good that you are having her seen by a vet for this, especially since it has grown in size a little, and waiting another 10 days does not seem like a big deal in this case. If you are especially concerned, you can ask to be put on the cancellation list, where they can call you a spot opens up sooner. I hope this helps!
