My puppy has a round bump by her mouth. Is it a papilloma?

I'm not sure we can tell you for sure exactly what that is, but it looks like a papilloma or wart. These are usually a benign growth and are often caused by a virus. These benign masses are caused by contact with the papilloma virus, usually picked up from another infected dog. The good news is that these masses typically resolve on their own and require no specific treatment. Sometimes these do not go away and need to be removed or are getting too large and become an eye sore or catch on objects and bleed. In these cases, sometimes we will prescribe an antibiotic such as Azithromycin which has been shown to reduce the size and even resolve some papillomas. Most of the time, however, these masses will turn gray or purple in color, shrink and then fall off. If you are concerned about the mass then I would get this examined by your vet. I hope this helps! Based on the appearance of this lesion and Baldrick's young age, I would guess that it's most likely either an epulis (https://www.petcoach.co/article/epulis-a-common-oral-tumor/) or an oral papilloma. The challenge with any lump or bump is that the only surefire way to diagnose the issue is with a biopsy. Both of these lesions are benign, but oral papillomas are contagious to other dog due to their viral origin and epulides can grow significantly if left in place. While this issue certainly isn't an emergency by any stretch of the imagination, I still think it's worth taking Baldrick to his vet in the coming weeks to have it checked out. Mast cell tumors are very uncommon in young dogs, so if the masses look like viral papillomas, those would be more common in a 9 month old puppy. Viral papillomas have a pretty characteristic appearance, but it is always a good idea to have your vet examine Daphne and make the diagnosis. Growths that appear on the face, head, and feet of very young dogs are often papillomas, a wart like growth that usually pops up and then goes away on its own within 3- 4 weeks.These are contagious between dogs, so if Artemis has been playing with other dogs you might check with their owners to see if they have seen anything similar. You can check out Google for images of papillomas in dogs and see if what you're seeing in her is similar. I would probably give the vet a call tomorrow to mention that you've seen another, and see if he wants to have a look.

These look like juvenile warts (oral papilloma). Such warts are caused by a virus, they are self-limiting and and will go away by themselves eventually within a few months. They will need veterinary attention if they increase significantly in size or amount or start bleeding, get infected, or cause other problems.
