My puppy is vomiting, weak, and not eating. What should I do now?

The clinical signs you describe are concerning when they occur in a puppy as they can be seen with serious gastrointestinal infections such as Parvovirus. Other possibilities include intestinal worms, gastrointestinal obstruction and dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. The sooner these conditions are treated the better the outcome tends to be. For this reason, I recommend that you have Poppy evaluated by a veterinarian to check for these possibilities and to start therapy based on findings. I'm so sorry to hear that Diablo isn't feeling well. Without knowing Diablo's age, it's hard to know exactly how concerned to be, but vomiting, weakness, and not eating are very concerns signs. I would recommend taking Diablo to his veterinarian as soon as possible. If that's not possible, feed him a bland diet of boiled chicken (or other simple meat) and rice, with some extra water mixed in. Without treatment, he may keep getting more sick. I would be concerned about parvo virus, an intestinal blockage, or something else depending on his age.

These types of conditions should not be treated at home. Raw egg does not prevent parvovirus. For this reason, I recommend that you have Saiko evaluated by your veterinarian to check for these possibilities and to start therapy based on findings. I hate to hear that Xenia is not feeling well. As I am sure the vet told you today, there are many things that can cause the signs. Parasites, bacterial over growth, viral infections, eating something she should not have, organ disease...these are just a few things. Without any further details, it’s hard to say but most vets will test for parasites and parvo virus and go from there. Parvo virus is a big concern as it can be fatal. Being a puppy, there are concerns with low blood sugar occurring if she is not eating. Signs of low blood sugar are disorientation, trouble walking or seizures. If you see any of the signs, this is an emergency and she needs to go to the veterinarian immediately. Try to offer her canned puppy food, boiled white meat chicken and boiled white rice and even babyfood (check the ingredients to make sure there is no onions or garlic, grapes or raisins as these are toxic to dogs). There is also a special canned food made by Royal Canin called Recovery formula and many pets like it. If she is still sick tomorrow, I would recommend to have her re-evaluated by the veterinarian and pursue further diagnostics and treatment. Vomiting, diarrhea and lethargy are quite concerning in any dog, especially puppies because of the diseases they can get such as parvovirus. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment. They would be able to check for this disease as well as checking for other possibilities such as intestinal worms or other infections. The sooner these diseases are diagnosed the better the outcome tends to be. At the very least, Gus can be started on anti-nausea and anti-diarrhea medications and his hydration status can be checked. Hi there! I'm very sorry to hear about Kimi's troubles. If I had a client call and report the clinical signs you are describing, I'd ask to see the puppy right away. Young puppies, especially smaller ones, can be susceptible to getting a low blood sugar if they go a long time without eating. Not to mention that they can get dehydrated fairly easily as well. I'd definitely recommend Kimi go in to see her veterinarian right away. The veterinarian can perform an exam and check her hydration status. They may also want to check Kimi for an infection of some kind, and/or evaluate some diagnostics like radiographs and lab work. Kimi may need some in-hospital treatments or even just some medications for you to give at home. Things that can make puppies not feel well and stop eating include, but aren't limited to viruses, baceterial infections, ingesting toxic materials, ingesting pieces of toy or blanket and getting a blockage, eating anything out of the ordinary and getting indigestion, or even parasites. She might have a condition called "Parvovirus" which is a very serious virus that affects puppies, and is more likely if Joplin is unvaccinated. The other possible causes in a puppy include an obstruction in her gut (a blockage from a foreign object (ex. ball) that she ate, or an intussusception (the intestines telescoping in on each other). Also, depending on her age, pyometra is possible along with many other conditions. With what you are describing, I am very concerned that she could die without aggressive care. I strongly recommend you get Joplin to a vet right away, and if your vet is closed go to your closest emergency clinic. They will recommend a test of her poop, as well as possible bloodwork and x-rays, and will likely want to keep her in hospital on IV fluids and medications.
