My puppy is vomiting, not eating, and on drips. Will she be okay?

She will need to be on IV fluids, injectable antibiotics, and anti-nausea medication. Your veterinarian is right that she needs to eat. If the medication can control her vomiting, this will help her to keep food down. There is no way to know for sure if she will survive, but it sounds like you are providing her the care she needs. The medications she is receiving are fine, but really need to be administered in a hospital situation, But I can understand the constraints & difficulties you have with veterinary care in your country. Lousie may have parvo or distemper, diseases that are difficult to treat even under the best circumstances. I would at least try to keep her confined so that she only has access to clean water. You can try giving her chicken or beef broths or stocks, too. All we can do with these very young patients is to hospitalize & administer the proper treatments. Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It sounds like Joplin is very very sick. She might have a condition called "Parvovirus" which is a very serious virus that affects puppies, and is more likely if Joplin is unvaccinated. The other possible causes in a puppy include an obstruction in her gut (a blockage from a foreign object (ex. ball) that she ate, or an intussusception (the intestines telescoping in on each other). Also, depending on her age, pyometra is possible along with many other conditions. With what you are describing, I am very concerned that she could die without aggressive care. I strongly recommend you get Joplin to a vet right away, and if your vet is closed go to your closest emergency clinic. They will recommend a test of her poop, as well as possible bloodwork and x-rays, and will likely want to keep her in hospital on IV fluids and medications. Hi there. Coco really needs to be hospitalized for this condition as soon as possible. If she has shown no improvement she may be having a delayed reaction to the tick bite (or something else) and need a course of steroids, etc along with her antibiotics and iv fluids. If she cannot hold down food, low glucose is a huge worry with a puppy this small as well and can lead to seizures, lethargy, etc. she is also anemic-which your doctor has probably informed you. It may be that she ends up needing a blood transfusion. I hope this helps and she gets help quickly. My best to you both.

It sounds as Ruby is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. it could also be an imbalance in her diabetes medications. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Berry! Parvo is a very serious disease and sadly can take much longer than 2 days to resolve. On average it takes 3-7 days and the puppies get worse before they get better. That is a lot of diarrhea. Be sure that you are keeping up with Berry's hydrational needs. Hopefully she is getting IV fluids, IV antibiotics and IV antinausea medications since she isn't holding anything down. Ideally she should be hospitalized if that is possible.
