Why is my dog throwing up after swimming in a lake two days ago?

It could be there was something in the water that has upset Bentley’s stomach, leading to the softer stools and drinking more water. I’d keep an eye on him for now. Yes I recommend to have your puppy examined today. Eight times is a lot of times to vomit. It's possible your puppy has picked up something from the lake but it's also possible there could be other causes like giardia or even something like parvo (your puppy is not yet old enough to be fully protected from vaccines). With young puppies, it's better to play it safe so I recommend to have him checked today. I hope this helps and that he starts feeling better quickly!

Since she still has diarrhea even though she was on a bland diet, it is likely that she has an intestinal infection, and it could indeed be something she ingested with the lake water. I suggest you take her to your vet for an exam. She will likely need prescription antibiotics and/or anti-parasitic medications.

As long as you have started her vaccinations then I wouldn’t think that you have done anything wrong. She may have consumed a little too much salt water, or it could be completely unrelated. I would consider feeding her a bland diet such as boiled chicken and rice his morning. Poor Hendrix. Definitely keep your appointment with the vet. He may have ingested something he shouldn't have while swimming or playing, and dogs can often get skin infection or dermatitis from swimming. Diarrhea can also come about from parasites or stress/excitement. The vet may check a still sample for parasites or abnormal bacterial growth. I hope Hendrix feels better soon. Severe, persistent vomiting should be assessed by a vet (especially if vomiting water for more than 12-18hours due to a risk of dehydration). It is possible he may have swallowed something while he was roaming which may have caused an obstruction or irritation. Given it happened within hours of coming home it is unlikely to be anything he contracted in the shelter

I'd worry that Hugo may have aspirated water during the bath. It's also possible that the bath was unrelated and that he ingested something, or that he has a neurologic problem. I'd recommend seeing a veterinarian as soon as possible for an exam and blood work, and potentially x-rays as well.
