I am so sorry, but I would highly recommend taking Holly in to an ER vet to have them look at this gaping hole closer to determine if this is going all the way through to the abdomen or has the potential to in the near future Also they need to start antibiotics right away and potentially close this area surgically with a drain in place, so it doesn't abscess. I am so sorry you are in this situation, but the best course of action here is to get Holly seen by a vet right away for proper wound management, before this turns into something more serious. Flushing this with betadine diluted 50;50 with warm water is ok to do tonight, if you can't get her in until the morning. I don't think she needs to get to an emergency vet tonight but tomorrow you should have your vet recheck her. Continue with her medications as directed and try to keep her quiet. You can ice the incision for 5 minutes 2-3 times per day until you get her to the vet. That might help.

I am concerned that Goldie's umbilical hernia seems larger. If the hernia has opened up more, then the abdominal organs such as the omentum and intestines can slip through the hole, leading to strangulation of them. That would make her quite uncomfortable to sit and lie down, and pain would cause her to shake. Based on this, yes I would have Goldie see an emergency vet now.

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! I am so sorry that you are going through this! You are correct, Belle needs immediate Veterinary care. A lot of bully and smoosh faced breeds require C-sections. There should be an Emergency room open. I worked emergency for 9 years and was required to drive in despite hurricanes, blizzards and ice storms. I would find someone with 4 wheel drive or go slowly. I tired to do a quick google search based on your zip code, I hope one is close.
