My puppy's tooth is yellow/brown. Is it damaged from chewing?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | neutered | 1 year and 5 months old | 18 lbs

I just noticed that my 1 year old puppy’s one front tooth turned slightly yellow/brown. The rest of his teeth are white so I’m worried he may have damaged his tooth while chewing on something. Should I be concerned?

It may indeed have been compromised while chewing. It may heal on it's own or not. You would need to have Frankie seen by your veterinarian. A dental x-ray may be recommended to further assess the tooth. If it has been damaged, it may need to be extracted.
