Why is my puppy tired, not eating, and breathing heavily with snot?

This will cause sneezing and can affect a dog's appetite. He could also be painful somewhere causing him to shake and hide. Thanks for posting! Oh dear-it sounds like Rocko has a upper respiratory infection! Possible causes may be bordetella infection (kennel cough), canine influenza, or canine distemper virus. I would highly recommend Rocko be taken to his nearest veterinarian today or tomorrow for an exam and antibiotics at the very least. Rocko may be IV fluids and other supportive medications as needed. Rocco may have either an allergy, an infection or a foreign body in the nose (such as a grass seed). If the problem is severe or carries on for more than a week I would recommend taking him to the vet in order to get it checked, otherwise just let it run it's course.

Poor Roxy! I can definitely see the dry discharge from both nostrils. You’re right in saying that this can be caused by an upper respiratory infection. In most cases these infections cannot be transmitted to people or from people to dogs. These are very common in dogs, and can easily be treated with antibiotics prescribed by a veterinarian. Unfortunately, nasal discharge can be caused by several other diseases such as a nasal foreign body or mass, or even pneumonia. Your vet can do some blood work and x-rays to determine the exact cause of Roxy’s nasal discharge. You should have her seen immediately if she begins acting lethargic, loses her appetite, or you believe she’s having trouble breathing.

Puppies do breathe a bit faster while asleep than adult dogs. An occasional sneeze or nasal drip is fine. Monitor for lethargy, decreased appetite, difficulty breathing or a yellow or green nasal discharge. See your veterinarian for an exam if any of these symptoms develop.

I'm so sorry to hear Koda is not feeling well. Being congested and sneezing could indicate he has an upper respiratory infection. Some of these dogs can cough/gag up a foamy white material as well. He could also be suffering from allergies. He will need to see his veterinarian if his symptoms persist, especially if his appetite decreases. In the meantime, let him rest and do not take him out and about in case he is infectious. Hope this helps!
