My puppy is tired and not eating after playing. What should I do?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 3 months and 11 days old

My puppy isn't as energetic and hasn't ate after playing with my cousins dog yesterday. I hope nothing is wrong. Anything I should do?

It could be that Mila may have overexerted herself playing, which would be why she isn't as energetic. She could also be going through a growth spurt, which would make her a little quieter. Teething would also reduce her appetite, so I would try to tempt her to eat by soaking her dry puppy food in gently warmed low sodium chicken or beef broth, or warming up canned puppy food. I would not worry just yet, but if she still hasn't eaten in another 24 hours and refuses the food suggestions I made, then I would take her into the vet for an exam.
