My puppy is tired and not eating after playing. What should I do?

I see that Hazel is around six months of age. It could be that she is teething, and it is painful for her to eat. You can try offering her wet food, or you can soften her dry food by soaking it in gently warmed low sodium beef or chicken broth, or warm water. I would try these methods first, and if she still isn't eating a lot, then I would take her into the vet for an exam.

I’m so sorry Lilith isn’t feeling herself. Has she had any vomiting or diarrhea? Coughing or sneezing? Has she been vaccinated yet? These are all things I think about with a young puppy not feeling well. I worry about infectious diseases most often at this age, such as parvovirus, distemper, or parasites. They also become dehydrated very quickly. I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. It is normal that Mila may be a little quieter than usual, she could simply be tired and going through a growth spurt. As long as she is eating and drinking normally, and going potty normally, I would not worry about it :-)

It does appear the Mia may be feeling it a bit off, but I wouldn't get too worried just yet. It could be the weather if it's warm where you are, so she could be generally unwell. Given that she did eat and had some water, I wouldn't take her into a vet just yet. Keep an eye on her over the weekend, and if she's still acting off on Monday, then have her seen by a vet on Monday. She may either be going through a growth spurt, or she may have low glucose. If she isn't eating at least 3/4th of her normal diet, then I would be concerned about possible low glucose or another neurological condition. You can also offer her some karo syrup (only about 1 tsp) on her gums if her energy seems really low, once every 6 hrs until you can get her in the vet to be seen. For puppies that are still eating and drinking but lethargic and no signs of GI issues I would be suspicious of a couple of things: 1) puppy is just sleeping more now because he is still growing, Pitt Bull terriers and other large breed dogs can go through pretty fast growth spurts and this can definitely cause pups to sleep more. 2) If puppy is overly lethargic and running out of breathe easily or becoming intolerant to exercise or play I would be suspicious of a cardiovascular abnormality. I would recommend you schedule an appointment to have a vet do a heart auscultation (listen to the heart with microscope) to ensure your pets heart does not have any arrhythmia's or murmurs.

It's impossible to know if this is significant or not without more history and likely a physical exam. If Stormy has been running around playing all day, this is likely normal because she is tired. If there is not a good reason for her to be tired, she is likely sick. If you suspect Stormy is ill, I recommend to have her examined by her veterinarian if it lasts beyond 24 hours or if she starts getting worse. I hope this helps.
