My puppy is super tired after daycare. Is this normal or concerning?

It's possible the stress of the bath startled her or stressed her out a lot, causing her to want to run away or be very tired. In small breeds, hypoglycemia from excessive activity may also cause increased sleepiness or exhaustion. Making sure she is on a balanced diet and gets 3-4 meals a day can help prevent this. You may also want to take things a bit slower at the next bath and blow-dry, adding in treats in between each step, and taking time to stop and take breaks if she becomes too nervous or stressed out. If the strange behavior or tiredness continues to occur even without another bath, or she seems to have a worsening of symptoms, seeking out vet care in person is best to rule out any more serious health issues.

Other common causes of lethargy in a puppy include fever, ongoing infection, abdominal or musculo-skeletal pain and more. As long as Cornelius had something to eat and drink and is resting comfortably, you should monitor him at home. However, if he is still lethargic tomorrow morning, you should take him to your local vets for an appointment.

As long as everything else is well and he is eating and mobile when he gets up it is likely he is just tired from all of excitement and activity. Monitor for any signs of fever or illness which may require a vet check

Yes, he’s still a puppy and needs rest with lots of exercise. Playing and having him run free are fine exercise but It’s best not to run distances with him as his bones are still growing. Providing steady daily exercise is best. Training is also mentally tiring but good for Bertie. As long as he’s eating and drinking fine it doesn’t sound like this is anything to be overly concerned about. It could be that Shadow played a lot while at your girlfriend's house, and the excitement of going to a new place and then back home may have tired her out. Given that this lethargy just started today, I wouldn't be too concerned just yet. Keep an eye on her, and if she is still acting this way after 24 hours or she develops other signs such as not eating, vomiting, and refusing to drink water, then I would be concerned. This is normal, and I would be thankful that she does not seem to have separation anxiety or destructive tendencies when left alone. You sound like an an extremely caring and attentive owner as well. At 3 months of age she should still be fed 3 times a day and/or have food available for her all day to prevent hypoglycemia or low blood sugar which can happen fairly easily with small breed puppies. I would expect a 7 month old pup to be able to rest in a crate for a full 6-8 hours without problems. I'm glad she's resting. Could there be something that happens to get her worked up at the three hour mark? Like the mail truck coming at roughly the same time every day? The timed release toy machine can help no matter what the problem is (as long as she doesn't try to destroy it, which would be both frustrating and very expensive).
