My 2-month puppy is throwing up, not eating, and has diarrhea.

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 24 days old | 28 lbs

I have a 2 month old puppy .Yesterday he regurgitated his food & he did again today . He’s also been drink a lot of water & not wanting to eat his food today . This is his stool from just recently (sorry I had to pick it up) & towards the end it was a little watery. His personality is the same & he’s still energetic .I provided a picture of his food. We just recently added the Vital brand because it seemed like he was getting tired of the kibble & pack together . He liked it but now won’t eat It

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Benji. The first thing to determine is of he is regurgitating or vomiting as they are due to different causes. Vomiting is accompanied by signs of nausea, retching and abdominal contractions. Regurgitation is the passive upbringing of food. The puppy may be surprised the the food the food or water slipping up. Vomiting and diarrhea (or soft stool) are common in young puppies. This can be due to a diet change, intestinal parasites or stress from an environment changed. Regurgitation is typically caused by a severe congenital anomaly when evident in a very young puppy. He will need to see his veterinarian to determine the cause of his signs. I hope this information helps!

These are not really related.

With his aggression that you are noticing I would recommend first neutering him. I would also recommend a trainer to work with him and you. The trainer should be able to identify triggers.

With regards to him not eating and getting sick. The most common reasons are them getting into something they were not supposed to. If he is still not eating tonight or tomorrow morning I would bring him to a veterinarian. I would recommend feeding boiled chicken and white rice also.

A one time vomit isn't something too concerning. This becomes an emergency when they continually vomit, have diarrhea with vomiting, have blood in either, lethargic and on top of everything not eating.

Poor Benji! If he's only vomited once or twice, it is best to keep an eye on him. You can also offer a bland meal of boiled rice and chicken to help settle any minor GI upset. Small breeds are more prone to issues such as hypoglycemia, so making sure Benji is fed several smaller meals throughout the day instead of larger ones may help, and may also decrease vomiting so he isn't eating too much all in one meal. If he continues to vomit, or shows other signs of illness in addition to it, a vet visit is best to rule out other issues such as illnesses, parasites, foreign body ingestion, etc that can also cause vomiting.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Pj. I'm sorry to hear that he is experiencing vomiting and diarrhea. If a dog is going to suffer a vaccine reaction, it typically occurs the same day as the vaccination. So this is likely unrelated. He may be experiencing GI upset secondary to all the new treats. I would stop those for now. Being so young and small, he should see his veterinarian if symptoms persist. In the meantime, encourage him to eat and drink small amounts. It will be easy for him to become dehydrated at his size. I hope this information helps!

Unfortunately, this is not normal behavior for a young puppy and is pretty concerning. At less than two months old, your puppy needs to eat regularly or he risks having low blood sugar, which can cause serious health problems. Vomiting is not typically caused by stress and all these signs make me worry about a more serious illness. Please have him seen by a veterinarian right away because his lack of appetite and vomiting are very serious.

Regurgitation can happen with over-activity but if this is happening regularly it needs to be assessed. Conditions like megaesophagus can cause regurgitation, especially in puppies. I would suggest having her examined by a veterinarian to make sure there is no underlying illness causing this problem.

This could be from parvovirus or intestinal parasites. Since he’s so small and young I recommend a veterinary exam and treatment. He could get dehydrated quickly and that can become life threatening. They will test him for parvovirus and check for intestinal parasite. They will probably give him fluids to prevent dehydration and medication to control the diarrhea. It's not good that Steve has been vomiting and having loose stool. It's fine to take away his food for a bit, but make sure he always has access to water. Give his food back to him in the morning, but if he vomits that, vomits water, refuses to eat, or becomes very lethargic, I would take him into a vet right away. Best of luck.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Chance. I recommend that he sees a veterinarian. If he is having abdominal contractions, this usually indicates vomiting. Regurgitation can also happen where the food passively slips up. In this case, there are not abdominal contractions and the puppy seems surprised when it happens. Finally, if a puppy has a respiratory tract infection, coughing can bring up a white foamy material or sometimes food if he gags. The veterinarian will examine him and determine which of these scenarios are occurring and how best to treat him. I hope this information helps!
