My puppy is suddenly sick. What could be wrong and what should I do?

Puppies commonly get gastrointestinal infections from parasites and bacteria that can cause this to happen. We always worry about Parvo virus in puppies, but it causes bloody stool, so hopefully this won't be the case for Stella. If he is still active and eating/drinking, then this is likely not an emergency, but he should be seen by a vet within the next 24 hours. Poor Pipp! She needs to be examined by a vet as soon as possible to determine the cause. She could have an infection, auto-immune disease, tumor, secondary to trauma, etc. Your vet may need to aspirate or biopsy the lesion to determine the cause and then determine the best way to treat the problem. This is concerning, especially for an older dog to have severe gastrointestinal symptoms. I would first fast her for 12 hrs and then slowly introduce a bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese. But then it's best to get her to a vet right away. She needs to have bloodwork analysis done and potentially further testing to determine what her underlying illness is. It's very concerning that Stela doesn't really eat, and that makes me concerned that she could have a stomach illness causing her to be nauseous, or it could be she has a foreign body. Drinking a lot of water isn't normal either, and that would lead her to pee a lot as a consequence. She could be scratching herself due to allergies or mites, but if it's been a while since she has had a flea treatment (it needs to be given monthly if it's a spot on treatment), it could be fleas. These are things that really need to be checked out by a vet, and I would recommend taking her into a vet asap. I hope this helps.

Poor Stella. This sounds like a possible Upper Respiratory Infection (URI) which is common in dogs just like the common cold in people. If she has been coughing with no improvement for more than 3-4 days, then its best to get her seen by your vet to have her evaluated and treated. Sometimes URI's can improve on their own, but in many cases a short course of antibiotics are needed to help resolve them completely. I hope that your fur baby Stella feels better soon! Hello, sorry to hear about Ariel. She could be feeling sick either due to allergies, pain, or a high fever if she has some sort of infection. If she is otherwise stable, you may continue to monitor her until the morning and have your veterinarian look at her if she is still shivering. Poor Oreo! Please call a vet near you to have her seen immediately to help treat the swelling, as this could be an allergic reaction, and could become life threatening. Oreo may have ingested something she is allergic to or have been bitten/stung by something she is allergic to, and your vet can help direct treatment to help prevent worsening of her symptoms.
