My puppy (8 months old) has all the sudden decided to start tearing stuff up, a chair, the couch, a rug.. this has never been a problem before now but it's getting out of hand. I think a problem is he is on restrictive activity right now but we have gotten him new toys, chews, bones etc to keep him busy and happy. It almost feels mean to go back to locking him up in his pen when he isn't use to us any more. Please help with suggestions!

Even though he is 8 months old, Cedric is still a puppy. I would recommend more exercise throughout the day to burn off his excess energy, but I also recommend using the kennel when you aren't around. He could swallow pieces of the items he has destroyed and could require surgery to have them removed. This is risky and costly. The kennel is the safest place for him and it is not a punishment. When you are with him, make sure he is within eye sight so you can prevent him from getting into trouble. I am happy to discuss this further with a consult. Good luck and kisses to Cedric!
