My puppy refuses kibble. What healthy food options can I give her?

I would try canned puppy food as she is young and may now be able to easily chew the dry yet. You can also soak the dry food in warm water until its soft and she may eat it that way. Mixing the canned with the rice will get her started eating dog food and you can gradually change her over to dry as she ages. Most dogs love canned food so try several varieties to see what Cloud will eat. To get proper nutrition she needs to eat dog food so she can grow and be healthy. What about a canned or dehydrated food? Those sometimes are preferable to young dogs. The dehydrated foods are great because that are a lot like homemade food but don't require the time or effort needed. Canned foods are not bad for them either. You can start that or mix it with dry food to help encourage her to eat dry food. I hope this helps!

I would try feeding her boiled chicken, hamburger, or turkey and rice. You can also try feeding her things like scrambled eggs, low-fat cottage cheese, or chicken baby food. The other thing I would try is buying some canned puppy food for her and adding warm water to it to make it into a soup for her. Anything you can add some water to will help to keep her somewhat hydrated. You can also offer her low-sodium chicken broth for some fluids.

Poor girl. I would try some wet food such as Hill's Science diet or Eukanuba as an alternative. You can try mixing it first to try to avoid stomach upset. If she is also acting ill however, she needs to be seen by your vet to have her checked out to determine the underlying issue there. Try giving her some treats for now to make sure her glucose levels stay up. Small soft puppy treats are advised so that she can easily eat them. I can certainly understand being concerned about your puppy not eating enough. It's really not the best for for your puppy, as it's not formulated to meet her nutritional needs. It's not something that is recommended to give to a puppy on a regular basis, usually only when the animal is sick. In addition, there may be ingredients in the baby food that is not safe for her to ingest. It could be that she isn't used to dry dog food, and you can try making a puppy mush for her to see if that helps. I would soak a high quality puppy formulated dry food in warm water until soft. Then mix that with puppy formula such as KMR to make a mush the consistency of oatmeal. Over the next two weeks, gradually increase the amount of dry puppy food and decrease the amount of water and KMR you use until she is eating the dry puppy food only. If she still doesn't want to eat much, then I would have her seen before the 15th.

This specific diet is very palatable and also very good in terms of nutrition. You could also consider adding dog grade gravy to her food which may improve her appetite. The good thing about dogs is that they can go for a few days without eating and they'll just get hungry, whereas it can harm cats to not eat for a few days. It sounds like Ginger is trying to train you instead of the other way around. First of all, no more people food! Until she will eat her own food reliably, giving her people food will only reinforce her efforts. If you leave her kibble out all the time, stop doing that. Figure out how much dry food she should have per day (the label on the bag should give you feeding recommendations) and divide that into however many meals you want to feed her. I usually feed my dogs in the morning and evening. When it's time for her breakfast, put her bowl down and give her 15-20 minutes to eat. Whatever is left at the end of this time gets taken up and put away until the next meal. Don't give her treats unless it is for training rewards. When it's time for her evening meal, put that down and again, give her 15-20 minutes to eat. She may try to make you feel guilty by begging, don't fall for it. Don't feed her any people food and especially don't feed her off the table while you'ree eating. Make sure any family members or other residents in your home are aware of and are participating in the training, otherwise you're wasting your time. After a few days, she'll get the idea that her food it out at specific times and if she wants to eat, that's the time to do it. Good luck!
