Why does my 6-month-old puppy have red spots on her belly and neck?

Poor Nala! There are a number of things that could cause red spots on her stomach. If they are very small and look like pimples all over her belly, this is a common sign of a bacterial skin infection called pyoderma. If it's more of a flat, red rash, this is more likely to be an allergic reaction or an area of irritated skin, which could be due to sitting in urine if she does this for long periods. I would recommend having her examined by a vet when you can, to determine what is causing the spots - she may need prescription antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medication to treat the problem, depending on the diagnosis.

This is probably caused by an allergic reaction. first of all make sure you de-flea Chloe regularly every month with a high quality spot on (ex. Advantage) as fleas are by far the most common reason for these reactions. If the fleas are not the problem, it could be an allergic reaction to food or an environmental factor. this is more complicated to treat and will sometimes require medications such as Steroids, anti histamines or cyclosporin in order to stop the allergy.

I am so sorry Pretty Girl is going through this. On her belly it looks like a little skin infection but on her side it looks like hives. If this just started today I would take her to an emergency veterinarian for a possible allergic reaction. If this has been going on for a few days call your regular veterinarian tomorrow. If you wait then during the night if the bumps that look like hives get worse, her face swells or she has difficulty breathing then take her to an emergency veterinarian asap. Start by bathing him with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner such as an oatmeal or fatty acid based formula. If the skin lesions spread, do not resolve or seem to bother him, then he will need to see his veterinarian. Poor Odyssi! The red pimple-like lesions that you are seeing could be related to a skin infection or contact reaction to insect bites (mosquitoes, fleas, etc.). A trip to the vet is in order to further assess these lesions, as antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medications are likely needed. At this point, make sure that she is receiving a high quality flea and tick preventative (such as Nexgard, Bravecto or Advantix) regularly. Hi and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to see that Finn is having this problem. I see lesions or spots like this occasionally on dogs in the same areas. Most of the time these spots resolve without treatment but most of the cases I have seen are much more mild with fewer spots. I always wonder whether these are related to some kind of insect sting/spider bites, contact irritation from something in the environment, etc. Some of these lesions or spots can resemble small areas of hemorrhage too which could indicate blood clotting disorders and those causes can be numerous. I would advise your veterinarian evaluate these since Finn has a lot of them. I think that if he is acting completely normal you could monitor this and see if they resolve. So if he acts normal, eats, drinks, uses the bathroom normally you could just see if they resolve. If anything is different, he should be evaluated immediately. I would recommend going to the vet. Sometimes this can occur with insect bites, but it could also happen with autoimmune disease or bleeding disorders. The vet will do a thorough examination, and based on their findings and the medical history, may recommend blood work or other testing.
